Taroudant is one of the oldest cities in Morocco – sometimes referred to as the ‘Grandmother of Marrakech’ – and has altered little with the passing of time. Surrounded by ramparts, with the Atlas Mountains to the north and south, it enjoys a delightful setting. Our journey from Agadir to Taroudant will take approximately 90 minutes, and we will travel through the rich and picturesque Souss Valley, passing olive groves, orange trees and small villages. Upon arrival we will notice how distinct the city is in appearance: crenellated walls, narrow, winding streets, ruddy clay houses, and elegant minarets. We will visit the colourful souks, brimming with spices, wonderful handicrafts and leather goods, and have time to haggle for some bargains. A refreshment stop will then be made at a local restaurant, where, surrounded by magnificent lush tropical plants, we can relax and enjoy the calming atmosphere. We can enjoy a cool drink by the pool. Following this, our return journey is made.
This tour involves approximately 1 hour of walking, some through very narrow uneven streets. Comfortable shoes are recommended. Please note that vendors in the souks can be very persistent.
