For those of us who enjoy drinking sherry and watching flamenco dancing, then this is the tour we should choose. We leave the pier and drive to Puerto de Santa Maria – a lively harbour, famous for its fish and wine, both of which are the principle sources of income for the town’s inhabitants. Here we find the renowned Gutierrez Colosia wine cellars as well as restaurants offering the best of the day’s catch. We will go straight to the Gutierrez Colosia cellars to enjoy wine tasting and an extraordinary flamenco performance. Dry East Coast winds mix with humidity west winds, helping to maintain the optimum growing temperatures for the grapes. The cellars, built near the River Guadalete, were founded in 1838 and are active year-round. There is a little walking involved, including steps and uneven surfaces.
