TOUR E - SOUTH ISLAND TOUR
Excursions
- 5 hours
- Minimal
As our coach departs Las Palmas, we can relax and enjoy the passing scenery on the way to our first stop, Maspalomas.
Maspalomas Beach stretches 2,710 metres along the southernmost point of Gran Canaria. Declared a natural protected area, the amazing sand dunes, which resemble those found in the Sahara, provide a habitat for a number of rare plant species, some of which are exclusive to the Canary Islands.
Next, we continue to one of the newest resorts on the island, Puerto Rico. Once a small fishing port, today Puerto Rico is a flourishing tourist centre, which has been built on the terraces of the steep slopes rising from the coastline.
The smallest and most beautiful resort of Mogan is saved for last – known by locals as the Venice of Gran Canaria, due to the channels and bridges which we will see here. We will have some free time to explore the charming village of Mogan independently, before returning to our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: There is a minimal amount of walking involved in this tour, which will be over flat, asphalt ground. At Maspalomas there are some steps to negotiate in order to reach the viewpoint and additional steps to encounter should you wish to use the toilet facilities. For reference, we shall make a comfort stop prior to our drive to Puerto Rico. There will be approximately one and a half hours of free time at Mogan, where walking is at the discretion of the individual. What flora may be seen is obviously subject to seasonal change.
