TOUR F - CALDERA DE TABURIENTE
Excursions
- 40 - 45
- 4.5 hours
- Limited capacity
Departing the quayside, we pass through the capital of Santa Cruz de La Palma to reach the a church named “Lady of the Snow”, this church is considered the protector of the island and boasts a silver altar and Flemish art of the 16th century.
Our next stop is at the Visitor’s Centre in Caldera de Taburiente National Park and the view point Mirador de la Cumbrecita. Caldera de Tabutriente National Park was created in 1954, and is one of the biggest craters in the world, with a circumference of 28,000 metres, diameter of 9,000 metres and a depth of approximately 1,500 metres. The crater is lined with pine trees and bossed lava, which has been furrowed by cool streams. From here we can choose to complete an optional hike over the crater border if we wish.
Rejoining our coach, we will travel to Casa Yanes, where we can enjoy a glass of Sangria, prior to returning to the quayside and our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking at each of the stops, and is therefore not suitable for guests with limited mobility or wheelchair users. To access the viewpoints, steps will be encountered and at the National Park there is an uneven uphill path to negotiate. The walk around the crater border path is optional, but uneven ground will be encountered. Please note that toilet facilities are available at the Visitor’s Centre.
