GRAN CANARIA, CANARY ISLANDS

The Canary Islands are Europe’s winter place in the sun, and this tour offers us the opportunity to experience first hand some of the most popular resort areas on the south side of the island.

The Canary Islands are Europe’s winter place in the sun, and this tour offers us the opportunity to experience first hand some of the most popular resort areas on the south side of the island. As our coach departs Las Palmas, relax and enjoy the passing scenery on the way to our first stop the popular resort of Playa del Ingles. Playa del Ingles is the largest tourist resort on the island. It has a long, sandy beach, which unites it with other beach towns including San Agustin and Maspalomas. We shall have approximately 15 minutes here to perhaps take photographs of the surroundings or take a short stroll around this popular destination. Our tour then continues towards Maspalomas, where we will stop for a photo opportunity of the amazing sand dunes that resemble those found in the Sahara. Our journey will then continue onto one of the newest resorts on the island, Puerto Rico with its two marinas for a further photo opportunity. Once a small fishing port, the Puerto Rico of today is a flourishing tourist centre, which has been built on the terraces of the steep slopes rising from the coastline. The smallest and most beautiful resort of Mogan is saved for last – known by the locals as the Venice of Gran Canaria. In Mogan we shall have some free time to explore this charming village before returning to our awaiting ship. This tour is primarily a coach excursion with photo opportunities en route – so remember your cameras! Please note that there is a minimal amount of walking involved on this tour, most of which will be over flat, asphalt ground. At Maspalomas there are some steps to negotiate in order to reach the viewpoint and additional steps to negotiate should you wish to use the toilet facilities. The walking at Mogan is during free time and is therefore optional.
