TOUR F - VIKINGS & THE GOLD ROOM
Excursions
- £35 - £45
- 3.5 hours
- Limited capacity
- Moderate
More than 4,000 objects from the Viking era are on display. We also visit the Gold Room, opened in 1994, which contains Sweden's most prized gold and silver treasures - 114 pounds of gold in total, and an even greater quantity of silver. We can admire the skill of ancient goldsmiths and listen to the stories behind the objects that we see. We will be captivated by the magic of gold! Before we leave the museum, there will also be time to visit the museum shop where we can find small momentos to take home, as well as copies of prehistoric jewellery.
We then continue with a panoramic sightseeing tour of Stockholm. We shall drive through the city centre, proceed south past the Royal Opera House, the Parliament Building and across to Gamla Stan - the enchanting, medieval Old Town, passing the Royal Palace which overlooks Stockholm's inner harbour.
TOUR NOTES: There is a moderate amount of walking at the Museum, and some steps will be encountered. We shall be at the Museum for approximately 90 minutes. Photography is NOT permitted in the Gold Room - personal photography (handheld cameras) are allowed in the rest of the Museum. Places of interest seen may vary to those specified, due to traffic conditions, and the tour may operate in a different order to that described.
