Nature and careful planning have combined to make Stockholm one of the world’s most attractive capitals. Water plays an important part in city life, and no fewer than 50 bridges of every shape and size link Stockholm’s 14 islands.
We will be joining a motor launch at the pier for a cruise of the many waterways and canals, to contemplate the serene beauty of Stockholm’s waterside setting. Everywhere there are parks, tree lined squares and wide boulevards, playgrounds and wading pools. It is difficult to imagine as we glide peacefully along that we are in a bustling city. We will have views of Strandvägen, the Royal Dramatic Theatre, the National Museum, the Opera House, the Grand Hotel and the Royal Palace, located in the Old Town. Our motor launch will also pass through the Carl Johan Lock, the Hammarby Lock and will cruise Lake Mälaren.
TOUR NOTES: While walking is limited from our ship to the launch and back again (approximately 100 metres each way), we regret that it is not possible to accommodate wheelchairs or guests with very limited mobility due to the boarding of the motor launch (by gangplank). There may be a short coach transfer to our boat, depending on where the ship in berthed. We advise you to take along a sweater or jacket, as even on a warm day the wind can be chilly. The boat will be covered and there are toilet facilities and a PA system onboard. Refreshments may be available onboard, and if so can be purchased using Swedish Kronor.
