TOUR D - URNES STAVE CHURCH & SOGN FOLK MUSEUM
Excursions
- £90 - £100
- Approx. 7 hours
- Limited capacity
- Moderate
Today we will drive along the fjord of Luster and make a short stop to see the beautiful Feigumfossen Waterfall. Continuing, we travel along the Romantic Road to the Urnes Stave Church, which is Norway’s oldest stave church and is included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
A 20-minute ferry crossing from Urnes to Solvorn will then be made. We will have a short walk through Solvorn – one of Norway’s best-preserved fjord villages, and very picturesque. We have a short drive to Sogndal where we shall have lunch.
Following lunch, we continue to Kaupanger and the Sogn Folk Museum. This is an open-air museum which, through the exhibits and a traditional farm with animals, shows us how life has been lived along the Sognefjord.
On our return, we will continue along the other side of the Lusterfjord to Skjolden and have several short photo stops of the many beautiful sights.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking both at Urnes and at Sogn Folk Museum, therefore it is unsuitable for guests with limited mobility. Please note that there will be construction work at the church during the summer – it should still be possible to view the church, but not internally. The tour may operate in a reverse order to that described.
