This tour leads from Akureyri where we will have time for photos. We then proceed to Lake Mývatn with a stop at Skútustadir, on the southern shore of the lake. We shall have lunch at a restaurant in the Mývatn area.
Continuing by coach we drive to Dimmuborgir Nature Reserve where we will stop to admire the view. Passing through Reykjahlid village our tour continues along the shores of Lake Mývatn, with a drive through Akureyri on our way back to port.
TOUR NOTES: This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility, as the sites visited do not have easy access. Uneven, unmade and gravel paths will be followed, and there are some inclines to negotiate. To get the most out of the tour, walking of approximately one and a half-hours is required. However, the Godafoss waterfalls, the pseudo craters at Skútustadir, Lake Mývatn and its surroundings, as well as part of the steam vents, sulphur deposits and fumaroles in the Námafjall area can be seen from the coach or without going far from the coach. At Dimmuborgir lava labyrinth some walking is required to experience the landscape. To reach the restaurant there is a walk of approximately 50 metres (164 feet) each way, and there may be a few steps. Please note that the coach used may not have air-conditioning. Places of interest may be visited in a different order to that described.
