Experience the little Indian village of Parintins.

Parintins is on an island in the Amazon River – and the site of the annual Bois Bumbas folk festival, the biggest in Brazil after Carnival in Rio. The port area has a flea market and a colourful floating market with dozens of boats jammed together, selling fruit, vegetables, fish and souvenirs. The town itself has a few interesting buildings, including a brightly painted cathedral in Portuguese colonial style, with an ornate interior.

• Please note that the tour transport used in the Caribbean normally consists of coasters (similar to small mini buses), which do not have suitable storage space to accommodate wheelchairs, therefore unfortunately our tours are not considered suitable for wheelchair users.

• This small village on Tupinambarana Island is situated in the largest river archipelago of the mid-Amazon. Parintins is two centuries old, rich in Indian culture – as celebrated with an annual ‘Boi Bumba’ festival.

  Please note, it is important that passengers clearly listen to the ship’s instructions and do not go ashore unnecessarily early for Tour A as there is limited shade near the convention centre. If you proceed ashore early to explore the town, please be aware that the convention centre will NOT be open until the time printed on our tour tickets. All passengers participating on Tour A are requested to queue in an orderly manner down one side of the convention centre.

• Following a short walk from the pier through the port gates, we will board our minibus and proceed towards the Caprichoso Pavilion for a short external view of one of the Boi Bumba practice grounds.
