We take a moonlit riverboat cruise into the dense jungle backwaters, where we’ll transfer to a small-motorised canoe. Under the expert direction of our native guide, we’ll glide silently into the flooded forest and its countless overgrown tributaries. Armed only with a flashlight, our guide will attempt to locate caimans by startling them with the light

We take a moonlit riverboat cruise into the dense jungle backwaters, where we’ll transfer to a small-motorised canoe. Under the expert direction of our native guide, we’ll glide silently into the flooded forest and its countless overgrown tributaries. Armed only with a flashlight, our guide will attempt to locate caimans by startling them with the light.While the caiman is hypnotised by the bright light, we’ll slowly approach it until our guide is close enough to attempt to catch the caiman with his bare hands and actually lift it out of the water for all to see. When we have taken photographs, the young caiman will be returned, unharmed, to the water.After the thrill of this incredible hunt, we will transfer back to the riverboat for our return to the Manaus floating pier. For our convenience, our riverboat has restroom facilities and a cash bar selling soft drinks and beer; US Dollars are accepted. (Complimentary mineral water and the local drink Caipirinha are supplied.)There is very little walking involved in this tour, but it is necessary to be able to get on to and off the riverboat (by a gangplank) and step into the motorised canoe. (The transfer to the canoe may take place mid-stream.) Please note that there is a 99% chance that we will see a caiman on this tour, but even if luck is not on our side, the sounds of birds and frogs in the darkness makes it quite an experience. A tour with a difference!
