This is an excellent opportunity to explore the ecosystem of the Amazon. The lakes of this section of the river are especially lush, containing a wealth of vegetation. Our tour begins with a visit to the Wedding of the Waters, where the Amazon and Tapajós Rivers come together.

This is an excellent opportunity to explore the ecosystem of the Amazon. The lakes of this section of the river are especially lush, containing a wealth of vegetation. Our tour begins with a visit to the Wedding of the Waters, where the Amazon and Tapajós Rivers come together. Then we continue downstream on the Amazon to Maicá, which is a natural outlet – a much smaller stream, making it easier to see things as the boat meanders through the flood plain. As our riverboat approaches the entrance to the Maicá Lake, we will see native homes as well as being able to admire the local flora – we should also keep our eyes peeled for the rare pink dolphins. If river conditions permit, we may have an opportunity to fish for voracious piranhas while at anchor.Please note that there will be a walk of up to 90 metres (295 feet) to board the boat, which is reached by a gangplank. The boats have a restroom, but they do not have PA systems.
