TOUR C - BUDVA & ST STEFAN
Excursions
- £40 - £50
- 3.5 hours
Departing the quayside, we drive to the coastal town of St Stefan, where we can enjoy an impressive view of this fortified island settlement near Budva. Legend has it that the town was built early in the 15th century after a battle in which the Pastovic clansmen overcame the crews of several Turkish galleys. The fortified town was of economic importance, providing storage and protection for produce sold at markets along the Adriatic coast and in Venice.
Following our brief stop here, we continue our drive to Budva, the oldest settlement in the area. Many archaeological finds provide evidence of the town’s long history – some date back to the 2nd century B.C. Upon arrival here, we follow our guide on a walk through this old city, which gives us the opportunity to learn more about the history and legends surrounding this charming town.
At the end of our walking tour, we can enjoy some free time at leisure to explore independently, browse for souvenirs or enjoy a drink in one of the many cafés (at guests’ own cost) prior to the return journey to Kotor.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves approximately 400 metres of compulsory walking during our visit of the old city, over mainly flat ground. There will be around one hour of free time, where walking is at the discretion of the individual. For reference, toilet facilities are available in local cafés.
