Excursions
- £20 - £30
- Approx. 4 hours
- Easy
Departing the quayside, we begin our scenic tour with a drive to the main avenue of Tunis. Here we shall make a brief stop in Port de France. A stone archway that acts as an entranceway, we are given a short presentation on the Medina beyond before re-boarding our coach.
We then drive by the city of Carthage, where Punic and Roman ruins remain of an ancient city, which was once one of the most powerful in the western Mediterranean. We shall drive past the various baths, temples and shrines here, making a brief photo stop before continuing on to a local restaurant for refreshments.
We continue to Sidi Bou Saïd, a picturesque village famous for its Moorish architecture, white-washed houses and blue shutters. We shall drive through this cherished town, returning to our ship via Gammarth.
TOUR NOTES: This is primarily a driving tour, which is suitable for guests with limited mobility (providing guests can board the coach unaided). There is a limited amount of walking at the photo stops, some of which may be over hilly ground, however guests can remain on the coach if they wish. There is also a ten minute walk to the Port de France, however guests may remain on the coach. Places of interest may be visited in a different order to that described.
