TOUR E - SCENES OF MALLORCA
Excursions
- 4 hours
- Limited to 100 participants
- Easy
We shall pass by the magnificent, honey-coloured Cathedral and the Almudaina Palace, which was originally the Palace of Moorish Governors and is now a museum.
As we make our way through the main streets of Palma, our guide will point out sights of interest, such as C’an Berga (an 18th century townhouse), the Gran Hotel, the Teatro Principal and the tree-lined Rambla, with its typical flower market.
During our drive up to the entrance of Bellver Castle, we will be able to see the sweeping views overlooking Palma and its seafront. Following a brief photo stop here, we continue our tour. Leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind, we head through landscapes of pine forest, almond groves and olives to Valldemossa, the highest village of Mallorca. Valldemossa was the home of the composer Chopin, and also the writer Georges Sand. Upon arrival, we can enjoy a visit to La Cartuja Monastery, before we have some free time to stroll through one of Mallorca’s most beautiful villages. There are magnificent views of the valley and over to Palma far on the horizon. Refreshments will be served here in Valldemossa, before we re-board our tour coach for the return drive to the quayside and our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves approximately 15 minutes of compulsory walking during our photo stop at Bellver Castle, and around one hour of walking and standing during the visit to the Monastery. The amount of walking undertaken during the period of free time at Valldemossa is at the discretion of the individual, however uneven and cobbled ground will be encountered. Refreshments consist of either one soft drink or a cup of tea or coffee per person.
