We begin our tour with a drive through Seville, where we shall be able to view monuments such as Torre del Oro, a military watchtower built in the 13th century and the pavilions around the Maria Luisa Park, home to the Exposition of 1929.
Continuing, we make our way to Cadiz where we embark on a panoramic drive of the ancient city, passing the 18th century baroque cathedral, through to the bay with its splendid views. We shall see the Plaza España and the gardens, where the monument of Las Cortes (Spanish Parliament) of 1812 is situated. We also observe the Moorish style Alameda de Apodaca Gardens, a reminder of their occupancy in past centuries.
The cathedral, with its towering golden domes acts as a landmark against the Cadiz skyline, and is the last resting-place of composer Manuel de Falla. We can then enjoy some free time to explore the city’s narrow streets independently.
Following our free time, we meet with our guide and visit ‘Taberna Flamenca La Cava’, where we can relax and enjoy the traditional flamenco show whilst being served tapas (appetisers).
A ten-minute walk will reunite us with our tour coach, which will transfer us back to the quayside and our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves a small amount of compulsory walking, some of which will be over cobbled and inclined ground. For reference, toilet facilities will be available at our flamenco venue and during our free time in Cadiz. We shall have approximately 50 minutes of free time during this tour, wherein the amount of walking is at the discretion of the individual. Please note that the drive to and from Cadiz takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes each way, a comfort stop will NOT be made en route.
