Embarking on your cruise
We want to make sure your cruise holiday gets off to a smooth start, so we ask you to call us on 01473 746 167 the day before you sail. You’ll hear a recorded message giving the latest update, helping you to avoid any delays with check-in or departure on your cruise.
Your cruise with Fred. Olsen should be a relaxing, stress-free experience from start to finish, so to help you begin your holiday with us in the right way we do all we can to ensure that your embarkation process is as smooth and efficient as possible. In order for us to provide you with the best embarkation experience we can, and to avoid you enduring a delayed start to your holiday, we kindly request that you do not arrive at your cruise terminal until your confirmed check-in time. This time will be clearly shown on your cruise ticket.
To assist you with planning travel to the port on the day of departure we provide recommended arrival/check-in times for each cruise. If you arrive earlier than the time shown for your cruise, you are likely to experience delays during embarkation. If you find you will be arriving earlier, we suggest that you take a break for a drink or snack somewhere before heading to the cruise terminal. For fly-cruise holidays, please refer to your flight tickets for details of your check-in time at the airport.
Please take a look at the 'Arrive No Earlier Than times' for your ship and cruise, so you can plan your journey to your departure port accordingly.
If you want to avoid any stress of travelling on the day, or to see a little of the departure port before you go, you can travel to the port or airport the night before your UK cruise leaves. Our partner Superbreak offers hotels and car parking at great rates, with a special saving for Fred. Olsen guests.
Your luggage and security
When you arrive at the cruise terminal, you’ll be directed to the luggage drop-off area. Porters will take your bags through customs and immigration for you and they’ll be delivered to your room later. All you need to do is complete and firmly fix the luggage labels we send you to all your bags. (Luggage without labels can’t be accepted for security reasons, so please make sure they’re on before you leave!).
Checking you in
Check your cruise ticket, it will advise when and where you need to be to check-in - it’s usually no later than an hour before you sail at the latest. You’ll just need your ticket, passport and insurance documents (you must have your insurance documents in order to board). We’ll give you your ship’s pass and boarding card. Then, you can just sit back in the Cruise Terminal Lounge until you’re called to board your cruise ship.
We’ll capture the start of your cruise with our professional photographer. Then we’ll board you deck by deck. A final security check, and you’re away!
Going to the USA
You’ll need to complete an online Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) at least 72 hours before you leave the UK. Please visit the ESTA site and complete your form before you cruise, otherwise entry will be denied.
