Service: Staff friendly and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. Food was great and entertainment top class. We hate to be near people smoking so were very disappointed that the smoking area took up half of the deck area used for outside entertainment. Strange, considering that very few people want to smoke but it only takes one smoker to contaminate the area. Another major negative was that the air conditioning was far too cold. People were wearing pullovers (in the Caribbean). Like many others, I caught a cold.

Service: The ship and Crew were all excellent but it was some of the trips which we thought under researched. In Jamaica @ the Blue Mountains (tour A), we were de-bussed into the pouring rain(our guide had an umbrella ? ) to try and listen to the Speaker but we were quickly soaking wet and returned to the coach. Mostly we had brought warm clothing but that was no protection against the down pour. Then we were escorted to the coffee room, about 12 feet square, where 3 coachloads of passengers were shoulder to shoulder, trying to taste the coffee. And did any body survey the route, I think that the driver really had doubts as to crossing over the final bridge? As to lunch, it was disgusting-- 1 cupful of rice and chopped vegetables, some said it was a vegetarian meal ordered for us (not Maroon Dishes as in the write-up).They also wanted us to buy what they were offering for the sweet. It was a very quiet, morose set of passengers on the way back to the port. We also booked for the El Cobra tour in Cuba, I was particularly interested in the copper mine as I had lived in Cornwall as a boy and knew about the mines, I thought that seeing the cemetery would be interesting to see which villages the men had come from. What did we see? The spoil heaps from a distance of about 2 miles. When I questioned our guide why we were not going to the mine, I was told that it was dangerous and unsafe. Why mention the mine? It was the only reason for my going on that tour, not being very enamoured by churches and Fern Garden.
Product: Refer to our earlier comments about the trips, but we may be remembering the Islands as they were when we visited whilst sailing on the Windjammer Yachts. We visited smaller ports and bays, never feeling harassed by young men in cars seeking passengers, as we were in St.Georges . It is quite obvious that with big liners calling, the way of life there changes.

Service: My pre booking experience was not good. So much wrong information. I phoned at least five times, asking for various information and rarely got a correct answer I complained at the time, but my feeling was of “ hard luck, like it or leave it”. On board, Receptipn was much the same. When I went to ask what time we would be returning from a trip, they had no clue. Made up a reply and when I asked if it could be checked, this was done with bad grace ( and original timings were way out). I had ordered a lactose and gluten free meal on the flight. I was served a tray with yogurt, butter and milk! I asked Reception to send a message to the airline for the return journey, and again was served exactly the same again, which I was not impressed with. I also requested a biscuit in the afternoon from where coffee was served. No restaurant was open, we missed lunch as was late back from a tour, and was told, “ biscuits only served in the mornings”. I went and complained at reception, and some biscuits were eventually served. But should not have to do this. And so it continued!
Product: We booked the cruise because we liked the itinerary. We were not able to go to Mozambique, shame, but nothing offered but a day at sea. Would have appreciated a longer stop over at the next port. Some of the spots where we docked were awful. Windy, dusty and dirty. Did not expect that.

Service: GREAT SERVICE IN REGARD TO STAFF, FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT. PUBLIC AREAS WELL DESIGNED AND MAINTAINED. CRUISE EXPERIENCE WAS LET DOWN BY THE POOR QUALITY OF THE CABIN. WHILST CLEAN IT LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED IN TERMS OF FURNITURE FIXINGS AND DECORATION
Product: ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE WEATHER AND THE CURTAILMENT OF THE CRUISE

Service: I would use them again if their itinerary matched a trip I wished to do.
Product: Good itinerary. Everything went well except a non visit to Jamaica. We did not receive port fees back which we have received in similar circumstances with other cruise lines.

Service: As usual, the service was of a very high standard. The ship's crew were charming - cheerful and helpful. The standards of cleanliness were high throughout the ship. Good food and good entertainment together with a varied selection of shore tours helped to make a memorable holiday.
Product: An interesting itinerary was spoilt when the trip to Jamaica was cancelled because of "political unrest". Scouring papers on arrival back in UK it would appear that Fred Olsen may have over reacted to what was taking place ashore. I fully understand that the company must look after the interests of their customers, but I sometimes get the feeling that Fred's policy is to cancel on any pretext be it 'actual' or 'potential'. This was our fourth consecutive cruise with Fred Olsen where the advertised itinerary has not been fulfilled for one reason or another.

Service: The staff on Braemar were excellent, keeping us informed of all that was happening on the cruise. It was a shame that we could not go to Jamaica but the reasons were outside the control of the ship and the Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. Standards of service onboard were good, the food was excellent and the overall experience was good.
Product: It was a shame we could not go to Jamaica but the reasons were outside the control of the ship and the company. Otherwise the experience of the cruise was excellent.
