Fred. Olsen–Ocean Cruise Line of the Year!
September saw Cruise International Magazine's first Cruise International Awards held in Central London. Attended by all the major cruise lines, the awards are particularly prestigious as they were voted for by the cruising public - and an impressive 180,000 votes were cast.

Music and Laughter
New Entertainment Programme Launches soon...
An annual tradition in the Fred. Olsen cruising calendar, our Music & Laughter season returns with an exciting roster of comedy and musical acts for forthcoming sailings. The full list of performers is being confirmed now. A brochure detailing the full programme is currently in production and set to be available in mid-June.

Vistas - Rewarding Curiosity
As an Ocean member you are no doubt familiar with our "The ArtsClub" activities, well they now have a new name - Vistas. Vistas includes an enhanced programme with a wider range of subjects, more lecturers and optional guided Shore Tours to bring the activities to life.
Celebrate 65
Due to the post-war "Baby Boom" which peaked in 1947, there will be a record-breaking number of people celebrating their 65th birthday in the UK during 2012. In view of this we have introduced a package to help you celebrate your special birthday that includes, an on board spend voucher, a reprint of the newspaper from the day of your birth, a champagne breakfast and complimentary cocktails for two.
New season of 2012 cruises already in demand
In January this year we sent all Oceans members the advance registration form for the 2012 summer and autumn cruises. All the advanced registrations have now been processed and the final figures show we've taken even more registrations than in previous years. Particularly popular was the Canada's Eastern Seaboard cruise, which received more registrations than any other itinerary in the season!

Dick Strawbridge MBE joins Coastal Britain Cruise
The popular presenter of the television series Coast will take time out from his filming to join Boudicca (D1022) for an exploration of the Coast of Britain this month.

In search of the Northern Lights
An exciting first for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines - Boudicca will break her winter run of warm climate cruises for a special journey to Norway in search of the famed Northern Lights.
RNLI Lifetime Achievement Award for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines
At a prestigous awards ceremony in May, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is to be presented with a Lifetime Achivement award by the RNLI. We will accept this award on behalf of all the Oceans members who have given so generously in support of the charity over the years. A big thank you to you all.

A Fred. Olsen cruise is the perfect way to mark a special event in your life. This is just what Alan and Nina Short did, when they joined the Braemar's Christmas Cruise for a relaxing honeymoon after their wedding in Barbados.

A big thank you to our guests from the RNLI.
Donations from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' passengers through the years have played a valuable part in supporting the RNLI; and our Oceans members have donated an overwhelming £77, 000 for this worthy cause this year, meaning our target of £150, 000 for a new Atlantic 85 lifeboat for the Kyle of Lochalsh station in Scotland has been reached.
Black Watch dry dock for further improvements.
Black Watch will be taking a well-earned short break to head to dry dock in December for a pampering treatment of her own. Improvements will include new soft furnishings in the Neptune Lounge, Pipers Bar, Glentanar Restaurant & Observatory Lounge. More extensive changes will be made to transform the Garden Cafe into the Braemar Garden.
Farewell to an old friend: Black Prince.
This October, after sailing approximately 4.5 million nautical miles and carrying 629,000 passengers, beloved Black Prince spent her last days as a Fred. Olsen cruise ship. After 43 years of service, we shall be sad to see Black Prince go, but at the same time, pleased that this popular ship will continue to sail, with 3 and 4 night short break holidays from Venezuela.
